GOLD American Buffalo 1oz 24 karat. Is it normal for the coin to have “wave” or different thickness of edge?

The coin was factory sealed in the "United States Mint" plastic with the seal of the treasury on the plastic as well. The coin has not been dropped or damaged in anyway and both coins are identical in every way. Since I have never owned a coin before I was checking them out big time and noticed that they have different thickness as you move around the edge. Again both are the same I was just making sure that this is "normal" for a .9999 pure 24 karat gold american buffalo coin. Thanks for any input.

When you say sealed in plastic, I assume you mean the thin mylar material. If the reeded edge appears to be uniform, then there should not be a problem. Also, remember that the designs (indian and buffalo) are not flat, so you may be noticing them as "irregular". I can not think of any other possible reasons.
