Price Paid For vs. Legal Tender Value?

If I buy an 2007 American Buffalo Gold Coin for 9 and the Legal Tender Value is ; what do I get when I resell? Will it only be worth when I go to use it at a merchant?

  1. If you wanted to you could use it for $50 I guess but if it is solid gold then you could keep a hold of it and you will be able to sell it for the price of gold as well as a collectors item which will make it worth even more. Just for instance, we received gold coins at the mine I work at for being safe. They were valued at $550 each for weight in gold then the collectors part sent it up to almost $650 that people were paying to get their hands on these gold coins.
